Biography :Siriki Ky (Born in 1953) is a Burkina Faso sculptor.
Siriki Ky, who sports his beret at all times, began with stone. He was indeed one of the main organizers, in 1989
, of the International Symposium on Granite Sculpture
, which took place in Laongo, located about fifteen miles from Ouagadougou.
Ever since then, inspired by the encounters he made, Siriki has also worked with wood
His most recent works, tainted with deep blue pigments, display this marriage of various kinds of matter. His mystical search is in fact designated by the names he gives to his sculptures : Sacrifice, God, Deliverance, Alliances
. His work represents a sincere meeting of raw natural elements and the craft of a man who envelops, assembles, and interferes–the very image of the artist he is.
Siriki Ky was born in 1953
in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
He first studied at the Fine Arts School in Adidjan, then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Pietrasanta, Italy. He has taken part in numerous art shows in Burkina Faso since 1985, as well as in Italy, Germany, France, Canada, Ivory Coast and Mali. He lives and works in Ouagadougou.
