The Prince and Wittstock attended opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and the "Bal de la Rose" and the Princess Grace Awards Gala in 2009. They also attended the opening ceremony of the Vancouver Olympics. As a couple, they also attended the wedding of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, and Daniel Westling in Stockholm four days before their own engagement was announced. Prince Albert gave his fiancée a ring from the jewellers Repossi.The civil marriage ceremony is scheduled for July 2, 2011, followed by the religious ceremony on July 3.They had been seen together since 10 February 2006, at the opening ceremony of the Torino Olympics when Prince Albert was accompanied by Wittstock.
Charlene Wittstock is the former Olympic swimmer who became engaged to Prince Albert of Monaco in June of 2010. A statuesque blonde, Charlene Wittstock was born in Zimbabwe, began swimming as a youngster, and won national titles in the backstroke. She was part of the South African women's 4x100 medley relay team that finished fifth at the 2000 summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. That same year she met Prince Albert while in Monaco for a swimming competition. Wittstock was 22 and Albert was 42, but in the next few years a romance began. After 2002 her swimming career was cut short by a shoulder injury, and in 2006 she moved to Monaco and became the steady consort of Albert, long regarded as one of Europe's most eligible bachelors. The royal palace of Monaco announced on 23 June 2010 that Charlene Wittstock and Prince Albert had become engaged to be married. They were married in Monaco, with their civil ceremony taking place on 1 July and the religious ceremony taking place on 2 July 2011.
Born 25 January 1978 in Bulayawo ein Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. She has South African nationality, and was a member of the South Africa's Olympic team. At the 2000 Summer Olympics, she was a member of the 4x10 medley team (breaststroke), which finished fifth.
The Wittstocks moved to Benoni, South Africa, when Charlene was 10 years old. She attened the Tom Newby primary school in Benoni, where the headmistress told a reporters: "We could see the talent and the signs that she was always destined for greater things."
The Associated Press asked the palace's press officer if Charlene might be pregnant. "Honestly, I do not think so," was the response from the press officer.

Prior to the marriage on 1 July, Charlene was reported to have tried to leave Monaco. Rumour has it that the reason for this is because she learnt that her future husband may be father to a third child. The rumour continues and was picked up in the french and international press.
